I am a watercolour artist based in Brisbane, Queensland. I spent my childhood in

East Africa, and then moved to the UK for a few years.  My time in Africa, with many

hours spent watching African wildlife, generated a love of nature and natural history.

This was reinforced when I moved to Australia and fell in love with the vibe of its

magnificent landscapes and unique wildlife.

 

I use painting and other art forms to satisfy my need for a creative outlet. It has

provided me with essential mental and emotional therapy when times have been

tough. In particular, watercolour brings a joy and exhilaration that is unmatched by

other mediums.

 

I first experimented with watercolour in the UK, but it became a bigger part of my life when I moved to Brisbane.  I have attended several workshops to learn new techniques from Australian and international artists. I still attend a fortnightly art class, which offers a time to paint even when life is busy. Other than that, I am self-taught and enjoy experimenting with different techniques and mediums.

 

I paint an eclectic range of subjects including many elements of the natural world which I love (wildlife, birds, landscapes and seascapes) and the built environment in which so much of my life takes place (urban scenes, people and pets).  There is something paintable in most things around us and watercolour is a medium which can capture the light and beauty in everything from a tiny beetle to the vast Australian outback.

 

I have exhibited and won awards at a number of shows and exhibitions in Australia over the last 4-5 years, including the Annual Exhibition of the Watercolour Society of Queensland, the Royal Queensland Show (EKKA), the Brookfield Show and the Manning Regional Art Gallery in New South Wales. My paintings have also been selected for Scattered Arts and the online gallery of the Australian Watercolour Muster and Spring into Summer Art Show.
